As to softboxes, the 40'' octabox/"beauty dish" seems the general choice on location, as it's compact when closed, opens easily, has a shallow profile even when open, and closes easily.  By contrast, the 42'' softbox/"beauty dish" is bulky, but, being almost truly circular, could be useful when circular catchlights are important.  While too bulky to tote routinely, the 88'' umbrella, the largest reflectors, and the backdrops—perhaps usable as a huge flag and a huge reflector—may be toted as specifically called for.
